Saluting Battery

The Saluting Battery is one of the most popular places to see in Valetta. Situated in the bastions below the Upper Barraka Gardens, along Valetta’s eastern ramparts, this place brings history to life every day at 12:00 and 16:00 with its guns shooting in air. Occupying the most strategic place of the Grand Harbour, the Battery makes integral part of the city fortifications, building of which was started in far away 1566, almost right after the Great Siege.

Siege Bell War Memorial

The Siege Bell War Memorial occupies the lower part of St. Christopher Bastion, facing the harbor and the town of Valletta. This WWII memorial features simple, yet symbolic design underlining a link between generations of Malta defenders. Tourists like its modest greatness that blends perfectly into the age-old environment and natural landscape.

Triton Fountain

Traditionally, tourists start discovering Valletta landmarks from the famous Triton fountain, which is a true symbol of the sea, closely associated with ancient Greek traditions. Located right in the center of a large square near the City Gate, the impressive fountain catches the eye with its spectacular scale, pronounced dynamics, expressive and sophisticated composition. The water element is harmoniously combined with a green area of a boulevard called Maglio Gardens adjoining the square with the fountain. It promises both pleasant rest in the coolness of its clear water jets and a nice photo shoot as a memento of Valletta.

Upper Barrakka Lift

Valletta is the antique city with marvelous landscapes and it is a real pleasure to contemplate the views of its antique buildings and marvelous sea panorama. The lift of Barrakka Garden that is almost 60 m high provides the habitants and the guests of the city the opportunity to enjoy fascinating views of antique fortifications and Mediterranean seascapes. Besides, it is the quickest way to get to the city from The Great Harbour.
