Mellieha Bay is located on the south-western coast of Malta that is famous by its numerous sandy beaches. This area got its name from the Maltese world “melh”, which means “sault”. Local habitants used to extract it from the sea water.
The surroundings of modern Mellieha had been habited from the prehistoric times due to their fertile soil and soft climate. Nowadays there are some areas in Mellieja that are abundant of green vegetation and it will be very pleasant to walk around the trees.
Mellieha is located rather far from the most popular tourist spots, but it is still very popular among the tourists. It is situated is very close to the neighbour isles of the archipelago – Gozo and Camino. The beach is safe: the water of the bay is warm and clear, there are no streams, the sea is rather shallow and always calm – Mellieha will be a good place of rest for families and children.
The beach is well-conditioned, and provides a lot of services: you can rent umbrellas and deckchairs, have a snack in one of numerous kiosks. There are numerous cafes, restaurants and bars where you can have a tasty meal or refreshing drink. The lovers of active rest can practice waterskiing, rent canoe, catamaran or scooter. The bravest guests can even try parachuting.

On some days the water is shockingly perfect and clear. Prepare for screaming naked babies.

Fairly clean organized sandy beach. San Remo has free wifi. €12 for two sun beds and an umbrella, €6 after three o'clock . You also get a coupon for a free cup of tea or coffee.
