Blue Lagoon

On the small spot between the Comino and the Cominotto islet a marine paradise can be found. This is the Blue Lagoon – a wonderful place with completely transparent and pure waters of cyan colour. Great number of tourists come here by boats daily to have a rest in one of the most picturesque places of the world.

Coming to the Blue Lagoon you just cannot take away your eyes of the white sand which can be seen through crystal waters of the sea. Only the sky reflecting in water can sometimes prevent spying rich underwater life straight from the boats. Numerous swimmers, snorkelers and divers take their equipment and come to observe rich marine life from underwater. From the bay the Lagoon is surrounded by the rocks and narrow lanes of sand. Coming there with a family you can leave children playing in shallow water places and enjoy sun tanning on the beach or practicing any kind of water sports nearby or deeper in waters.

The Comino Island is practically not habitated so the Blue Lagoon is visited by tourists only. So at evening almost everybody leaves and when night comes the Lagoon stays empty. There are no words which could describe beauty of sunset and sunrise in the sky above these blue water and white sands and rocks of the bay.

Not only the tourists but also filmmakers are attracted by irresistible beauty of the Blue Lagoon. Its landscapes have already served as locations for shooting of such famous movies as Helen of Troy, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Swept Away featuring Madonna.

So being on Malta, make sure you will have at least half a day to visit this marine miracle. If you come in summer get ready to swimming, if you come in winter - be ready for walking, enjoying scent of wild thyme and many other herbs, taking shots of the wild places sights.

A great place. To avoid on rush hours. If you spend a night in Comino, you can come here after 6pm or before 10am, when all the tourist are back to their resorts.

Felt like a fish. Avoid when crowded if you want to enjoy this spot. It's so peaceful and silent. You can spend hours there without noticing

Worth visiting - but avoid the busy summer months as it's packed.
