The San Anton Kitchen Garden is located across the street from San Anton Palace. Nowadays it is a famous tourist attraction and a recreational zone, especially popular among the habitants and guests of Malta that have small children.

The kitchen garden was established over 400 years ago in the times of The Grand Master of The Maltese Knight order Antoine de Paule. It had the purpose of providing the Palace with fruits, vegetables and herbs. In the 20th century the Palace was declared the official residence of the Maltese President, the kitchen garden was modernised and extended and got its actual name of The President`s Kitchen Garden.

The kitchen garden is connected with the Palace by a tunnel that is the shortest way of delivering the crops. The territory of the President`s Kitchen Garden is about 2.5 acres and it is divided into three levels. The first level comprises the kitchen garden itself where fruits and vegetables are grown, the second one presents herbs and flowers and on the third one the Swan Terrace can be found.

Nowadays the kitchen garden is a recreational zone that will be appreciated by families with children. There is a petting zoo with donkeys, ponies, goats and some birds, two fully equipped play areas and a café. In the cafeteria pasta, salads, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks are served. All the profit from the cafe goes to the charity fund.
